Disorder: No specific diagnosys

Comorbid disorder (or co-existing condition):

Brief description: The following is a typical situation that occurs every time Maria comes back to school after some days off. Maria cries outside the classroom and she refuses to come in. I ask her why she is crying, but she does not answer.

Place: classroom, corridor

Setting: before school activities

Measure: I wait for her until she stops crying, then I take her by the hand and lead her into the classroom. I make her sit down next to me. I ask her to do a simple task and she does it. I reward her with praise. Finally I ask her to choose a classmate to seat next to.

Hypothesis of Intervention: She gets quiet.
