Nickname: M.P.
Age: 8
Sex: male
Disorder: Emotional and behavioural difficulties
Comorbid disorder (or co-existing condition): My subject has epilepsy and medium mental retard. He comes from a monoparental family. He is in his mother’s custody(care). He is a social case. His mother is unemployed.
Brief description: M.P. has difficulties in solving the tasks. When a difficult task is given he hits his desk with his pencil and he starts moving his desk. He interrupts me and disturbs his desk mate. He tries to draw the attention of the teacher and of his classmates because he needs to interact with the others. My student asks for help in an inappropriate manner and he does not have the patience to get help. He has difficulties when he has to talk about his feelings.
Place: Classroom
Setting: During the lessons when a difficult task is given.
Measure: First, I ask him to sit in a place where I can easily get to. I tap him on the shoulder to give him more courage and confidence that he can solve the task without any problems. Then I simplify and break down his tasks to help him concentrate on specific parts. After that I give him a smiley face and I allow him to put his head on his desk for a few minutes in order to get some rest. Next, he is allowed to ask for help by raising his hand. He has to wait until I or another classmate can come to help him.
Hypothesis of Intervention (Describe the desired results you want from the intervention) Increase the number of solved exercises until he asks me or his classmates for help, without the inappropriate behavior occurring.
